Now we’re starting to think the “devastating conclusion” is that Ellis will die, Meredith and Ellis will meet up in “heaven” and get that closure they both need, then Mere will come back from the dead. A win-win for everyone!

I really like the idea (well not LIKE, but can SEE the idea) of Ellis Grey dying as Meredith is revived. That makes the most sense to me. Because then Meredith would come back from the dead only to find her mother with Denny and Dillon. And the lack of closure and all, she will be terribly destraught and looking for meaning and blah blah, it makes sense they would go that way.

On the other hand, killing the main character would make for a serious publicity move. And they HAVE been boosting the other characters’ stories lately. There has been far less about Meredith this season than before…

And I will be missing the episode Thursday because I have book club!! Grr. Good thing I have DVR.

I just Googled “Meredith dead?” because I’m itching to have this conversation. My critique partner and I blog about every episode, but she’s catching it in rerun tonight and I promised not to spoil it for her…

Sal, I like your comments about NW waters. I grew up in Olympia, one hour south of Seattle, and spent five months living on Bainbridge Island and taking that ferry every weekend. Not only is the water frigid… it is dark and soupy; full of kelp and (that close to the pier) industrial oily ickiness. It’s not unbelievable for Meredith to succumb to hypothermia. What is unbelievable is that Derek was actually able to find her.

Still, I’m glad they went for the fairytale there.

I don’t think they’ll kill Meredith. That would change the storyline too much–hopefully, they wouldn’t have her continuing to narrate the show from beyond the grave, ala “Desperate Housewives.”

Sorry, was just looking for some preliminary answers to the GA mystery…and came across your site. NW waters are deadly. My hubby works in Juneau…almost identical climate to Seattle…you have under 10 min. before Hypothermia sets in, not to mention the initial shock from the frigid temperatures and the level of exhaustion one is in as he/she hits the water. I love Meredith I don’t really see how the show can survive without her. My BFF we talking about it today. Her mother is in the medical profession where there is a definate lack of spirituality and we were just thinking maybe this was a way to add depth to the story she’ll be revived and be able to provide some closure for Izzy, and sort of a living testimony to the others that there is more to believe in. Just a thought!

I dont think they’ll kill her either. It’s too soon to mess with the ratings like that. And it’s not even sweeps

I didn’t like Derek carrying her out of the water though… Like he really WAS her knight in shining armour?

The blue makeup to make her frozen though was a nice touch. Hats off to the makeup artist.

And do people really succumb to hypothermia that fast? Where they are floating with their head above the water one minute and then the next minute…. they go under? Unable to yell help or anything? I realize it was the artistry of the director… sort of being enveloped by cold death… but still….

I predict a different Grey will die next week… fitting just as Meredith is revived, her mom dies on the table during her heart surgery.

If they really wanted me to believe they would kill a main character, they should’ve picked ANYONE but Meredith. Not buying into it one iota.

I have to say that I logged in last night to see if you had commented about last nights epissode before I did on the West Coast! Dang but if you did not say anything but, I can’t talk about it now!

After having read this post, I’m over my frustration from last night LOL!!

Merideth just CAN’t be dead! But, I too caught the “devistating conclusion” statement and sento off a qucik WTF text message to my daughter!!

This will indeed be a long week of waiting!!

When Izzie said, “It’s been a hell of a year for us,” that reminded us they’re all still only in their first year of residency. This show sure has shoved a lot of death, agony & illness (miscarriages! multiple kinds of cancer! alzheimers! shooting! cheating spouses!) into a single year.

All we need now is for Kelly Taylor to show up.
