Geez…don’t the people who write these stories watch the show?
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) -
Taye Diggs will star opposite Kate Walsh in ABC’s potential spinoff from hit medical drama “Grey’s Anatomy.”
The show will test the waters as a back-door pilot, an expanded two-hour episode of “Grey’s” slated to air in May. It will center on neonatal surgeon Addison Shepherd (Walsh), a character who has enjoyed a strong following from fans since she was introduced at the end of the hot surgical drama’s first season.
I’m guessing Taye Diggs will play a guy who keeps getting the crap kicked out of him, then wakes up each day to do it all over again. That premise would keep everyone entertained for, oh, say, 2 or 3 episodes. Or, maybe he’ll be a Jamaican med school grad who, having been dumped by his girlfriend after ten years, takes his optometry practice to wherever McMontgomery is to mend his heart and learn the fine art of lasik.

Oh great. I had such high hopes for this show, now that the drama killer is on board I expect it to go up in flames like a ferry boat lost in the fog.

You know, having Taye Diggs on your show has not been a good thing of late..his last two shows have not done well.
Maybe this one will be the one that defies that trend…

Gotta wonder who’s got the helm at Rat Central. First they promise 13 episodes of a drama, then pull it after 6 episodes, promising they’ll continue online, and they don’t then do, then don’t, then do.
Then they hype Lost like crazy, after giving people two crummy sitcoms in the space during haitus, and move the time slot for lost back an hour losing any school going kids eyes. Then hand wring and totally over-hype LOST beyond what the producers can deliver.
Now they are going to wreck Grey’s by killing off Mer, and then spinning off her rival into a new show before Grey’s ratings peak. Frankly, I’m halfway thinking of swearing off ABC drama’s… the drama of watching them is more costly than what they portray.

While we’re complaining about ABC…did anyone notice the blatant Macy’s product placement on Desperate Housewives a couple of weeks ago? That would have been one obnoxious drinking game…every time you see the word “Macy’s”, drink!
We counted at least a dozen times that word flashed in front of us in just one short scene.

I just don’t see how Addison can carry an entire storyline. She’s not THAT interesting. Not one of those characters has enough story behind them to carry an entire show. (Well except Meredith I guess cause she’s what started Grey’s to begin with). But still! It’s the ensemble that makes the show!

I’m not sure how that will play out with her own show, and if it will really have its own personality since it’s yet another medical drama written by the same people. I’m also skeptical of the chemistry between those two, but we’ll see…
