Yeah.
So, we had someone come out today to give us an estimate on putting plantation shutters all through the house…with the exception of our bedroom and bathroom.
You ready? NINE THOUSAND DOLLARS. Kind of reminds me of The Price Is Right today…when Bob Barker couldn’t tell if the Showcase Showdowner said 1700 dollars or 17000 dollars, and it took them about 45 seconds to come to a mutual understanding.
When the guy showed up, he went on and on about how the cost winds up being about half of what people expect. I told him that was funny, because my experience has been the cost is usually about twice what I expect.
All of a sudden…our 14-year old blinds…not looking so worn out.

Yeah, I knew those were pretty pricey. But I think Home Depot sells them, but unfortunately, my windows never fit the standard size.
I don’t know what kind of places that guy normally works at but I am with you — all my estimates are easily twice as much as I thought they would be. And did he really think that you thought it would be $18,000 for the shutters?!?!
I know you’re handy, check out Lowe’s and/or Home Depot, they sell plantation blinds in standard sizes for a lot less. (I am slowly replacing my blinds with the Faux wood plantation blinds from Lowe’s but I did see the real ones there too.)
I was thinking the same thing as Wendy. “Really? ONLY $9,000? *Whew* That’s a big relief! I was totally expecting to pay as much as my car for pieces of wood to be nailed to my house. Hold on, I’ll check the lint trap on my dryer to find the change to pay you.”

G and I know an excellent, talented and humble carpenter. He did our floors, crown moulding and wall texturing.
