Capt. UberHusband has now officially been home from Iraq for a year.

What does this mean, you ask? It means I can now erase “This time last year, while you were gone…” from my vocabulary.

This is good.

It was a bittersweet moment, as we reminisced about my 85-MPH high speed driving from the Savannah airport to Fort Stewart, my screeching through the main gate yelling “MY HUSBAND’S HOMECOMING STARTED 17 MINUTES AGO AND MY FLIGHT FROM DALLAS WAS TWO HOURS LATE AND I DON’T KNOW WHERE TO GO,” then eventually finding CU an hour later.

Still wish I remembered the name of the nice chaplain who took pity on this flipped-out wife and let me follow his car to the barracks, where they had taken everyone after the ceremony.

I still remember what we did that first night…ate Pizza Hut and watched American Idol. I also think CU showered for about an hour.

Dictionary of Corporate Bullshit Word of the Day

gap analysis: An official assessment of how something got screwed up; also functions as a form of penance for those who have screwed up, who will ensure their commitment to a thorough gap analysis to account for their commitment to a thorough gap analysis to account for their sins, though probably they are hoping some other crisis will make everyone forget they're supposed to be doing one.
