I had a similar experience the other day. Not once, but twice I heard moms threaten to beat their children. I know the first time was at a Target. The mom was looking at shoes and the kid was totally bored and squirmy. I remembered this as I went on another errand (can’t remember where) and heard yet another mom threaten to spank her kid. Maybe it was just time for the da– moms to take their kids home for some lunch and a nap!

I can’t believe someone would still say that out loud in a store, in this day and age (not that I think a “beating” is warranted in the first place).

For shits and giggles, my sister and I used to yell out “Don’t Beat Me, Momma” in the grocery store. We always got the belt later, but it was fun while it lasted.

I wonder if she meant she’d beat the kid right there versus the usual practice of waiting until all shopping was complete, behavior offenses duly noted when the child is beat outside by the dumpsters.
