In Need of a Geritol and Ensure Cocktail

Written on April 22, 2008 – 12:42 pm | by Stacy |

I saw jelly shoes at DSW Shoes over the weekend. I was perusing the aisles looking for some kicky new Spring sandals and found…a fashion fad from my high school years.

I didn’t know whether to be excited that everything which is old is becoming new (except me), or horrified that Steve Madden has the gall to charge $30 a pair.

Yeah, we bought CootieGirl a pair of jelly shoes a few weeks ago. She LOVES ‘em. I remember them from going to Rehobeth Beach in Delaware the summer between my sophomore and junior year in high school.

I remember getting one humdinger of a sunburn on my feet when I wore them to a cheerleading car wash/fundraiser. Waffle print. Very chic.

Ouch! To the sunburn, the fact that those horrible things are back, AND to the fact that what once sold for $5.99 is now priced at $30?!

Dictionary of Corporate Bullshit Word of the Day

dial it down/dial it back: To reduce intensity; often used in reference to a person's behavior; to calm down, relax, or get a freaking grip for God's sake; new millennium version of "take a chill pill" or "chilling out"; when referring to a presentation or sales pitch, to be less aggressive, with the hope the audience will not be aware they are being snowed with a soft sell.
