I Can’t Even Come Up With a Title For This Post. Sad.

Wow…thirteen days without a blog update. I told you, once the 140-character limit over at Twitter took hold of me, I ceased to be able to communicate in larger quantities of words. Actually…that’s not entirely true. We had word limits on my marketing midterm, and I struggled with that. 250 words to describe how Starbucks became successful, why it floundered, and how I think it should change its atmospherics to get back to its heyday? Um, sure. No problemo.

Anyway, here I am. So, how are you? I’m sorry I’ve been MIA. I just haven’t had a whole lot to discuss “in depth,” and the Twitter-esque microblog “drive-bys” just don’t seem appropriate here. Plus, a lot of the things I have to say…are no longer appropriate for distribution to the Internets at large.

So, the things I can tell you about…without having to kill you are, in no particular order:

  • CU’s new job. He started yesterday, and then left today on his first business trip. Back to being a business travel widow. Then again, he was gone most of last week…so I don’t think “back to being” is really an appropriate term. I started thinking recently that in the three years I’ve been virtual officing when CU has actually been in this country…I think I’ve only accompanied him on a few of his business trips. A couple to Chicago…one to Seattle…that’s been about it. Now, just when I decide to maybe take advantage of that perk a bit more, his travel is reduced to locations like Austin and Tulsa. Don’t tell me Austin is cool because of Sixth Street. Been there, done that, then yakked it back up.
  • School. More than halfway through the semester. Kicking ass in my Services Marketing elective (piece o’ cake, since I have all sorts of opinions on service quality), and holding my own in Financial Management. This has been an infinitely less stressful semester than the last one…thank God. CU and I have our end-of-semester weekend getaway planned…we leave the second I finish my FM final. We’re going all the way to Irving.
  • Weight loss. I’m down 11.8 pounds in eight weeks. 7.2 pounds to my goal weight. Again, kicking ass…although there’s not nearly as much ass to kick anymore. Clothes that didn’t fit before now fit, and clothes I’ve bought in the last six months no longer fit…but I am wearing them anyway because really, who wants to buy new clothes halfway to their goal weight? I credit Weight Watchers 100% for the past eight weeks, but now I split the credit between WW and the Cooper Fitness Center. I love that place. Seriously.
  • Bag, Borrow or Steal: Baa. Yeah, I know…I jumped on the bandwagon after seeing Sex and the City but to be fair, I was a fan of the concept back when they first started up…but the borrowing terms were really lame so I never really got into it. Now here I am with my first two bags, and nine things on the wait list. My “number in line” rankings for my Wait List items range from fourth for this one, and 52nd out of 61 for this one. FIFTY ONE OUT OF SIXTY ONE. I should get the bag by, oh, the time I graduate next summer. If there’s one thing I already knew going into my Services Marketing class, it’s that you won’t have customers for very long if you never have any available inventory. Sure, I could rent a stunning Gucci handbag, but really…would the folks at Petco, Target and CVS appreciate it? Doubt it. Oh wait, I can’t rent it. It was available yesterday, but is Wait Listed today.
  • Storms. Every time we run a round of the sprinkler system, it pours down rain. Sometimes, it pours down rain multiple times in a day. I’m going to start sending out email alerts to everyone I know in the DFW metroplex, letting them know we’re watering our yard, so they can take an umbrella to work with them.
  • The Bachelorette: I told CU the first night that Jeremy was The One. Why Jesse is still there, I don’t know. I suspect he feels the same “kissing you would be like kissing my sibling” vibe, but doesn’t want to admit it. Graham’s an immature dork, and while I like Jason…I’m not sure if Deanna should/wants to get involved in that. Then again, based on the previews…Jeremy’s family looks like they aren’t exactly going to stretch out their arms and welcome her into much of anything. Maybe she’ll pick Chris Harrison, instead. That would be cool.
  • Weeds: Hey-yo! We were so excited this started back up last night. I read that Conrad and Heylia were gone from the show, so I guess now it’s down to…I’ll apologize upfront…Mex-i-co. Seriously though, Albert Brooks! Awesome as Not-Francie’s father-in-law. Something else I like about the show…how they haven’t “forgotten” about Nancy’s dearly departed husband, Denny Duquette Judah.

I think that’s about it. Oh, wait…The Next Food Network Star? Worst. Show. Ever. Not only do the “cooktestants” (I will not call any of them chefs) not have any TV screen presence whatsoever, but they can’t even cook! Really…a “sweet and spicy” seasoning for peanuts? Made out of…sugar and cayenne. Really? I made cereal this morning, but what made my cereal special is the ratio of milk to cereal. I know…brilliant, isn’t it? Just sit back, close your eyes, and let the magical wonder of how I managed to pull off that culinary feat wash across you like a large wave of sunshine.

Fantastic news about the weight loss! I’m about to return to WW myself. I know it works, but I’m such a backslider during stressful times.

I’m glad to see you back on the blog, but I love the drive-by Tweets regardless.

Great on the weight loss. Since becoming diabetic I cheer harder when people knock off the poundage!!

Oh — and about the tweeting vs blogging … yeah - I get it.

Congrats on the weight loss — I need to be more disciplined!

I watch Weeds as well but through the download so I haven’t seen the new one yet. I’m not sure how the new premise is going to work and if it will be as interesting.
