CU and I went to see Tropic Thunder yesterday. Oh my God…so funny. I knew it was going to be great, but I had no idea just how funny it would end up being. The entire audience was laughing hysterically the whole time, and I even had a wadded-up napkin which was nearly soaked from drying my tear-soaked eyes. I did come to the realization though, that if we were to take every movie studio head and every entertainment agent and just ship ‘em over to Iraq, we’d be done with that whole business in quick form.
Robert Downey, Jr. - awesome…and I don’t throw that word around lightly. Tom Cruise…well, he’s damn funny. And yeah, his scenes are pretty filthy but if you’ve ever seen Entourage, it isn’t too far from how I suspect Ari Gold would behave if he were in charge of a studio.
In other Snarkwife news…the Fall semester started yesterday. I’m taking Global Business and Consumer Behavior, and honestly…Global Business is a re-do from my California MBA days. I’ve already taken the class, but the University of Dallas has dictated that I must take it at their institution…so here I am. The great part, other having already taken the class, is it’s pretty much just a capstone class for every other class I’ve taken. The text has chapters on international operations management, international finance management, international marketing management, and international human resource management. Been there…done those. From a workload perspective, it won’t be bad at all. There’s a lot of reading…and weekly quizzes (oh joy), but I’m excited. Plus, we only have eleven people in the class.
I’ve been antsy for Consumer Behavior to come up in the elective rotation, because I love trying to figure out what it is psychologically, socially, economically, geographically, etc. - which compels people to make the purchasing decisions they do. For example, do teenage girls really think the deodorant they just bought which says “for girls” on the packaging actually contains special girl-centric anti-odor sparkles? That sort of thing. I have the same professor I’ve had for two other classes so I know his teaching style and his assignments portfolio. This is good. One of my classmates is my teammate from Applied Research Methods. If you recall, she and I were the ones who mowed down every other team that was put in our path to world ethics debate domination. So, I’ve hit her up to work on the group projects.
Oh, and I’ve changed my theme…again. I call it TADD - theme attention deficit disorder. I think this one suits me though, so I’ll keep it for a bit.
