Last night CU and I were watching Pushing Daisies when I turned to him and said, “You know, I think this is my favorite show. Want to know why? Because this is the show I get the squealiest during.” And yeah, I know I ended my sentence with a preposition but I feel I can be grammatically dangerous like that in the privacy of my own home.
I remember a time not too long ago when I would dance around the living room (no joke) when I heard the opening credits for The Amazing Race. Same for Grey’s Anatomy. So then I thought…if I had to gauge which shows I was loving this season based on a Squealiness Factor of 1-100 and then got super-nerdy and plotted them along a line, what would it look like?
Check out that list…and you can easily tell what kind of groove I’m in this season. Reality shows and former faves (oh Grey’s Anatomy, how you disappoint me so now…) have tumbled to the bottom of the list. I threw Jon & Kate Plus 8 in for giggles. Had to have something at the low end of the scale, you know.
I’m rather sad about the stories I’ve been reading lately that ABC’s Wednesday lineup is suffering in the ratings. How Private Practice is avoiding the barrage of thrown tomatoes I just don’t get…because that show is just dumb. But Pushing Daisies? No joke, some of the best…if not the best…writing on television. I mean come on, there’s nothing that will put you in a good mood faster than hearing, “I’m Father Dowling, and this is Father Mulcahy and Sister Christian.”
And I’ll admit…half of Dirty Sexy Money’s appeal is the mutual dislike CU and I have for Lisa, Nick George’s suffering wife. I think it’s her hair, and how its sharp severity juxtaposes her personality perfectly against the softer, flowier Karen Darling. The other half of the appeal is probably the same thing that attracts me to Gossip Girl. I love to watch the fictitious wealthy suffer, and it’s even more entertaining when they fly on private jets and can afford expensive lingerie.

I started to watch Pushing Daisies and just did not get into it last season. I am wondering now if I should try again, but heck, I cannot keep up with what I am watching now!
And I agree totally with you about Gossip Girl.

We thought about going to 1Oak when we’re in NYC next month, and running up to the first blonde teenage girl we see and screaming, “OMG! ARE YOU SERENA VAN DER WOODSEN?”

I adored Pushing Daisies last season and was VERY happy it got renewed despite the writer’s strike. We bought Season 1 on Blu-Ray and the visuals are AMAZING.
